- SDR-21 is lighter; Schedule 40 is heavier and more durable
-
1/2" PVC pipe for the inner pipe:
- Schedule 40 recommended
Kits sold by Bradley Manufacturing LLC are Schedule 40 thick-walled by default. SDR-21 thin-wall kits are available by request — please message me for details.
How to Measure Static Water Level
This pump can pull water from 150 ft, but your well does not need to be that deep.
- Tie a washer or nut to a rope (50–150 ft long)
- Secure the opposite end so it cannot fall into the well
- Lower until you hear the “PLOP”
- Mark the rope at the top of the casing
- Measure from the mark to the washer
That distance is your static water level. Add a minimum of 20 ft to determine pump length. Installing deeper helps protect against drought and seasonal water table changes and can provide a cleaner water source.
