Please READ before you Purchase

You must purchase two pipes of different sizes locally to install this pump.

  • 1” PVC for the outer pipe (Schedule 40 or Class 200 or SDR 21 thin-wall pipe)
  • 1/2” PVC for the inner Pipe (Schedule 40)

A benefit of using thin-walled (Class 200) PVC pipe is the weight. Thick-walled (Schedule 40) will work perfectly fine with this pump; only it will be heavier when lowering into your well.

This pump kit is universal and can be used with either Thin-walled or Thick-walled PVC pipe.

Instructions on how to measure static water level

This pump can pull water from 150 feet, but will it work if my well is 175 feet deep? The answer is yes; you do not need to go the entire depth of your current pump. Measure your static water level (distance from the top of your well casing to the top of the water). Start by tying a large washer or nut to the end of a 50' to 150' length rope. Tie the opposite end to something secure so you don't drop it down your well. Lower it down until you hear the "PLOP." Mark the rope at the top of your well casing. The static water level is the measurement from the top of the well casing to the washer/nut. Once you have your static water level, add a minimum of 20 feet. I advise installing your hand pump as far below the static water level as possible to protect against drought and seasonal water table fluctuations. Doing so can also provide a cleaner water source.

With this kit, you receive detailed installation instructions.

Installing this pump will require cutting, gluing, drilling, and measuring.

Tools you will need:

  •        1-3/8” hole saw
  •        Power Drill
  •        Tape Measure
  •        PVC Pipe cutter or hacksaw
  •        120' of 3/16" polypropylene rope
  •        Wet and Dry medium-body blue PVC Glue
  •        Soft hammer or block of wood
  •        Pencil
  •        File
  •        Teflon Tape
  •        Pocket Knife or PVC deburring tool
  •        Slotted board or quick wood clamp (Explained in instructions that come with the kit)

You must modify your existing well cap or purchase a new one to allow the 1" pipe to pass through. This is done using a 1-3/8" hole saw. (See Pictures in the listing)

I can also make you a custom well cap for an additional cost.

Remember, this survival pump can last many years of constant use but requires manual power to operate.
